Quintijn Bonnez is a fourth-year PhD candidate in Biochemistry and Biotechnology at IRF Life Sciences, Laboratory for Thrombosis Research. In 2018, he obtained a bachelor degree in Biology with a minor in Biochemistry at KU Leuven Campus Kulak Kortrijk. He received his Master’s degree in Biochemistry and Biotechnology at KU Leuven in 2020. His research interests lie within fundamental protein studies in the field of thrombosis and hemostasis. His professional work focuses on the generation and characterization of autoantibodies from immune-mediated thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura patients as well as on the development of easy-to-use diagnostic assays for this severe thrombotic disorder. As a visiting research scholar, Quintijn performed a 1-year stay at Emory university (Atlanta, USA) and a 1-month stay at Imperial College London (London, UK) to study the relationship between the ADAMTS13 structure and enzyme kinetics upon monoclonal antibody mediated enzyme activation. To date, he published 3 peer-reviewed, first-author and co-authored 2 peer-reviewed articles. He presented 3 oral and 2 poster communications for which he was honored with 4 research awards and several travel and training grants.
