Peripartum haemorrhage (PPH) is a potentially life-threatening complication that differs from the traumatic-haemorrhagic shock of trauma patients. In this lecture, the main pathophysiological mechanisms of PPH are described, and the lab approach for the diagnosis of PPH is reviewed.
