Dr. Pavan (“Tem”) Bendapudi holds a joint faculty appointment at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center (BIDMC) and Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) in Boston and is assistant professor of medicine at Harvard Medical School. Dr. Bendapudi received his undergraduate degree in biochemistry magna cum laude from Harvard College and subsequently attended medical school at Stanford University. After graduating, he completed his residency in internal medicine at MGH, followed by subspecialty fellowships at the Dana Farber Cancer Institute/Harvard combined training programs. He is board-certified in hematology, oncology, and transfusion medicine. Dr. Bendapudi currently serves as principal investigator of the Harvard Thrombotic Microangiopathies Research Collaborative, an interdisciplinary, multi-institutional clinical research effort that studies thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura (TTP), a rare platelet clotting disorder. Under Dr. Bendapudi’s leadership, the Harvard Collaborative has made important contributions to improving the way that clinicians diagnose and treat TTP. Dr. Bendapudi’s research laboratory studies the biology of the coagulation system and ways in which bleeding and clotting disorders impact human health. He is an associate member of the Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard, where his work focuses on the development of novel anticoagulants. Dr. Bendapudi has received funding support from the Broad Institute, the Hemostasis and Thrombosis Research Society, the National Hemophilia Foundation, and the CSL Behring Heimburger Award, in addition to several grants from the National Institutes of Health.
