Dr. Kannan Meganathan is currently an Assistant Professor at the Central University of Tamil Nadu in India. He earned his doctoral degree from the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in New Delhi and further to that he pursued his research as a postdoctoral researcher in the USA for five years before he joined his current position. Kannan's primary research focus is on Hemostasis and Thrombosis, especially in the areas of platelet-related and other coagulation factors-related bleeding disorders. His research is supported by various government funding agencies like the Department of Biotechnology (DBT), the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), SERB, and the University Grants Commission (UGC). His research studies were recognized by various national and international forums. Some of his research studies were featured on the cover image of the journals.
He has received Pier. M. Mannucci Young Investigator Award by ISTH for the best publication in JTH. He is also the recipient of ISTH's Reach-the-World fellowship through which he has visited Dr Coller's lab at Rockefeller University, NY for two months to advance his research. He has been a Visiting Professor at the Loyola University Medical Center, Chicago, and University Medical Center Eppendorf, Hamburg, Germany. To his credit has published more than 75 papers in peer-reviewed journals. He is a member of various national and international academic societies. Kannan has been a resource person on various occasions for conferences and workshops.
