Postdoctoral Fellow
UT Southwestern Medical Center
Dallas, Texas, United States
Mary Dang is a third-year pediatric hematology/oncology fellow at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, Dallas, TX. I received my MD degree from Texas A&M Medical School and completed pediatric residency at Advocate Children’s Hospital in Chicagoland. She was first introduced to pediatric cancer when she served as a bone marrow transplant donor for my brother with leukemia. With this experience in mind, she began her fellowship with an interest in oncology, particularly health disparity and late effects of cancer survivors. As she navigated her first year of fellowship caring for complex patients with hemostatic and thrombotic disorders, she came to love the world of hemostasis and thrombosis. She is particularly interested in understanding these patient’s social health determinants, quality of life after a significant event, and innovative approaches to improve clinical outcomes. At least half of her clinical time is dedicated to caring for hemostasis and thrombosis with mentorship from Dr. Ayesha Zia. She is currently leading two thrombosis projects including quality of life and its trajectory after acute thrombosis and examining pulmonary embolism outcomes after implementing the pediatric pulmonary embolism response team at UTSW (abstract submitted for HTRS 2023 and currently in progress). Mary is excited at the prospect of learning from renowned leaders and colleagues passionate about hemostasis and thrombosis.
