Aisling received her BEng in Biomedical Engineering from Dublin City University (DCU),Ireland in 2014, followed by a MSc in Immunology from Trinity College Dublin, Ireland in 2016. Following this, she completed her PhD in the lab of Dr Roger Preston at the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (RCSI), Ireland. During her PhD, she optimised methods formeasuring dysregulated haemostasis in a wide range of conditions from haemophilia to immunothrombotic conditions. Furthermore, she examined the role of myeloid cells inmodulating haemostasis in inflammatory conditions and identified a key role for glycolysisand cell phenotype in modulating myeloid cell haemostatic function. Aisling’s current work as a postdoc, focuses on expanding on this research area to investigate how innate immune training can alter myeloid cell haemostatic function in the context of immunothrombotic diseases.
