Gabriel H.M. Araujo is a Ph.D. candidate at the German Research Foundation (DFG)-funded Emmy Noether group led by Dr. Zoltan Nagy at the University Hospital Würzburg and enrolled in the Graduate School of Life Sciences (GSLS) section of Biomedicine. His current doctoral research focuses on platelet production and the physiological effects of ablating PP1β, a serine/threonine phosphatase, on both megakaryocyte development and platelet biology. Before pursuing his Ph.D., Gabriel earned a Bachelor of Science in Biotechnology from the University of Brasilia (UnB) in Brazil in 2018. During his undergraduate studies, he completed an internship in the Scientific Initiation Brazilian Program at the Institute of Biological Science. His project there involved characterizing inflammatory and innate immune responses triggered by Legionella pneumophila infection. Subsequently, Gabriel pursued a Master’s degree in Molecular Pathology, where he focused on studying cell death and modulating carcinogenic parameters in hepatocarcinoma cells in vitro.
