Dr. Marwan Shaikh MD is an assistant professor and consultant at the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, Florida. He completed a bachelor’s degree in computer engineering from the University of Florida and then graduated from medication school from the University of Toledo in Toledo, Ohio. He then completed a one-year Transitional Year residency at Summa Health System in Akron, Ohio followed by an Internal Medicine residency at University of Florida Jacksonville campus. From there, he worked as a hospitalist for one year and then completed Hematology-Oncology fellowship from West Virginia University in Morgantown, West Virginia.
After completing his training, he joined the University of Florida Jacksonville campus as faculty. There, he also served as the director of the sickle cell and benign hematology clinics. He also served as the interim chair Division of Hematology Medical Oncology and interim chair of the Cancer committee. He took in active role in education as a member of the core faculty for the Hematology Oncology fellowship and Internal Medicine residency programs.
After almost three years at UF, Dr. Shaikh joined the Mayo Clinic in June 2020 as a classical hematologist. He currently serves as the Chair of the Mayo Florida Anticoagulation Subcommittee and as Core Faculty for the Hematology Oncology Fellowship. He is also serves as faculty at large for the Mayo Clinic Alix School of Medicine. His clinical interests include hemolytic disorders, bleeding, and clotting disorders. He is also passionate about quality improvement. In his spare time, he enjoys traveling, photography, and spending time with his wonderful wife and two children.
