Dr Virginia Silvari is a Chief Pharmacist working in Cork University Hospital. Her clinical and research expertise include medication optimisation for patients with
cardiovascular disease, anticoagulation and thrombosis. She graduated in Pharmacy (MPharm) in 2000 and went on to complete her Ph.D in Toxicology in 2004 in her native Italy. She then worked for several years as a Post- Doctoral Researcher in Stockholm University and University College Cork, and in 2008 she joined CUH.
She is a clinical lecturer in the School of Pharmacy at both Trinity College Dublin and University College Cork, a scientific committee member of the European Association of Hospital Pharmacists (EAHP), and member of the Education group of the Hospital Pharmacists Association of Ireland (HPAI).
