Main findings: fibrin clot structure and function, especially susceptibility to lytic enzymes, are unfavorably altered in patients with arterial and venous thromboembolic manifestations, both in the acute phase (myocardial infarction, ischemic stroke, venous thrombosis, pulmonary embolism) and importantly, following such events.
