I am a driven, young researcher, with a keen interest in (thrombo-)inflammation and cardiovascular disease. My current work during my PhD revolves around unraveling the intricate process of cardiac fibrosis during aging, with a special emphasis on understanding the role of neutrophil extracellular traps (NETs) in this pathological remodeling. My journey at the Leuven NETs lab (KU Leuven, Belgium) began back in 2021, initially as a master's student under the guidance of Prof. Kim Martinod and now continuing to delve deeper into this fascinating field as a PhD student.
At the Leuven NETs lab, we bring together a wealth of knowledge on immune cells, specifically neutrophils, and their ability to generate extracellular traps, coupled with a profound insight in cardiovascular biology. Our investigations span a spectrum of disease contexts, such as age-related fibrosis, congenital heart disease and heart failure, endocarditis, and sepsis, all with the overarching goal of unraveling the pivotal involvement of NETs.
