Makatsariya is one of the main researchers in the world of theoretical and clinical problems of thrombosis, including cancer-associated thrombosis, septic shock, systemic inflammatory response syndrome, antiphospholipid syndrome, catastrophic antiphospholipid syndrome, genetic and acquired thrombophilia, thrombotic microangiopathy, anticoagulant therapy. Last three years works in the field of COVID19 and thrombosis and COVID19 and pregnancy complications. He regularly represents Russia at the world congresses on obstetrics and gynecology, as well as on the problems of hemostasis. He is a participant in multicenter international studies on the problems of refractory forms of AFS, venous thrombosis (HIBISCUS TRIAL, OTTILIA TRIAL). He is also a co-author of the international guidelines for the prevention of thrombosis in cancer patients (ITAC).
