Ilaria De Simone is a PostDoc at Synapse Research Institute (Maastricht, The Netherlands). Her project is on the optimization and characterization of the plasmin generation assay. She obtained her PhD in 2023, which was a joint doctorate between Maastricht university and University of Reading, as part of the ITN Marie- Sklodowska-Curie Horizon 2020 research programme TAPAS (TArgeting Platelet Adhesion receptors in thrombosiS). During her PhD, she mainly focused on novel mechanisms of platelet activation and sustained signalling through the receptors GPVI and PAR1. Before her PhD, she attended the Catholic University of Leuven in Belgium, where she studied Biomedical Sciences and where she obtained a master’s degree in basic and translational sciences.
