Professor Roth is a graduate of the University of Tubingen in Germany, he completed his pediatric residency and pediatric rheumatology fellowship in Tubingen and subsequently worked at the Charité in Berlin as consultant for pediatric rheumatology before coming to Canada. He is a Professor of Pediatrics at the University of Ottawa and was the Chief of the Division of Pediatric Dermatology and Rheumatology at CHEO from 2007-2023. Since May 2023 he is chief of pediatric rheumatology in Lucerne Switzerland and also the director of the interdisciplinary reference centre for rare diseases in Lucerne.
Professor Roth is an internationally recognized expert in pediatric musculoskeletal ultrasound and has been very active in ultrasound education including the development of curricula and diplomas in Canada, the United States, Latin America, Europe and most recently Africa. He has led several international projects in the standardization and validation of musculoskeletal ultrasonography both in children and adults.
