Sofia F. Melo is a PhD Student at the University of Liège (Belgium). Her PhD project aims at the production of innovative anti-thrombotic and biocompatible polymers for prosthetic heart valves and other blood-contacting medical devices.
Sofia got her Master's degree in BioEngineering from the University of Porto (Portugal) and she was a Research Intern at the University of Groningen (The Netherlands) for 6 months.
Before engaging in her PhD, Sofia worked at i3S - Institute for Research and Innovation in Health Sciences (Porto, Portugal) - as a Research Fellow, focusing on the 3D printing of graphene-containing polymeric fibrous scaffolds for antimicrobial biomedical applications.
