Group leader
Clinical Epidemiology and Systems Medicine, University Medical Center of the Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz
Mainz, Rheinland-Pfalz, Germany
Dr. Vincent ten Cate is a molecular epidemiologist and group leader at the University Medical Center of the Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz, with a primary focus on thrombotic disease (venous and arterial). By combining multi-omics data from large human cohort studies with epidemiological and statistical methods, his group attempts to better understand the mechanisms underlying thrombosis, and how the coagulation system interfaces with other biological systems. In this capacity he is active in the CROSSLINK consortium, a new international consortium that aims to further elucidate the genetics underlying coagulation, and the curATime excellence cluster (biosignATure project), in which the aim is to identify potential new therapeutic targets for primary and tertiary prevention of atherothrombosis. He is also a Virchow fellow at the Center for Thrombosis and Hemostasis (CTH) in Mainz, Germany.
