Dr. Bhoj completed his M.D. Ph.D. training at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas where he studied innate antiviral immunity. He moved to the University of Pennsylvania where he did a residency in Clinical Pathology followed by a fellowship in Transfusion Medicine. At Penn, he became interested in leveraging a then-emerging technology, CAR T cells, for treatment of diseases beyond oncology. Dr. Bhoj joined the faculty at Penn, where his translational lab continues to develop cell therapies aimed at immune modulation, primarily in the contexts of autoimmunity and transplantation. He has extensive experience in the development of novel T cell therapies and has led development of CAR T platforms which are currently being evaluated in clinical trials.
