He has a research interest in Pulmonary Embolism. He has treated pulmonary embolism for years using endovascular techniques, initially trans-catheter lysis and more recently using the Inari Flow-Triever System.
Early on in his clinical experience he observed two findings:
1. There were thromblytic failures, despite 12 -14 hour intrapulmonary infusions of tPA, in some patients.
2. The embolectomy specimens appeared much older than recent thrombosis.
These findings have prompted his research investigation of the composition of pulmonary emboli.
Dr Freedman is married with 4 "college aged" kids and enjoys spending time with his family, skiing, hiking, exercising, cooking and reading.
