Jun Wan, PhD, is currently a research associate at the Cyrus Tang Hematology Center, Soochow University, Suzhou city, China. He undertook doctoral traning at Maastricht University and Synapse Research Institute in Maastricht, the Netherlands under the supervision of drs Tilman Hackeng, Mark Roest and Bas de Laat; followed by a postdoc training at University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, NC, USA under the guildance of drs. Nigel Mackmand and Steven Grover.
He innovated thrombin generation assays (TGAs) that can directly measure in whole blood (WB) samples, to allow faster and more comprehensive (plasma + all circulating blood cells) coagulability determination. He validated these assays with patient samples (cirrhosis, multiple myeloma, myeloproliferative neoplasm, etc) and mouse model samples (C1inh-/-; F12-/-; F11-/-; F9-/-; TFlow, etc).
Dr. Wan's current interest is the mechanisms how blood cells regulate coagulation and thrombosis and their implications in thrombotic diseases.
