Dr. Patricia Liaw is a Professor in the Department of Medicine at McMaster University in Canada. She holds the Jack Hirsh and Clive Kearon Chair in Thromboembolism Research at McMaster University. She is also the Chair of the Canadian Critical Care Translational Biology Group (CCCTBG). Her research aims to understand the biologic links between innate immunity, blood clotting, and vascular dysfunction, with focus on the mechanisms of immunothrombosis in the context of sepsis and disseminated intravascular coagulation (DIC). Her research approach includes studies of biochemistry, cell biology, animal models of sepsis, and translational studies of ICU patients with sepsis.
