Dr Charithani (Cherry) Keragala is an early career clinician-scientist and haematopathologist at Monash Health/Victorian Heart Hospital and completed her PhD at the Australian Centre for Blood Diseases at Monash University in 2023. She has been a fellow of the Royal College of Pathologists of Australasia and the Royal Australasian College of Physicians since 2018. She is an adjunct lecturer in Medicine at Monash Health, School of Clinical Sciences. Dr. Keragala’s PhD explores the relationship between the fibrinolytic system and the innate immune response combining both basic science research and clinical trial data. Dr. Keragala is an associate editor of ‘Thrombosis Journal’; the flagship journal of the Asia-Pacific Society of Thrombosis and Haemostasis and the current secretary of the Thrombosis and Haemostasis Society of Australia and New Zealand. Dr. Keragala is also part of the media-based learning subcommittee of the International Society for Thrombosis and Haemostasis and has recently been appointed to the International Society for Fibrinolysis and Proteolysis Council. As a young female early career clinician-researcher and mother, Dr. Keragala is passionate about women in STEM and is a member of the Gender Equity in Medicine Reference Group for the RACP.
