Principal Investigator
The Hebrew University of Jerusalem, Israel
Professor Tal Burstyn-Cohen, PhD, heads the laboratory for Developmental Biology and Cancer at the Hebrew University, Jerusalem. During her PhD and first postdoc, both at the Hebrew University’s Faculty of Medicine in Jerusalem, Tal studied developmental neurobiology. During her second postdoc, at the Salk Institute for Biological Studies, San Diego, CA, Tal moved on to investigate homeostatic regulation of adult systems focusing on the TAM signaling pathway. This included the generation of a mouse model which allowed to investigate the role of the anticoagulant Protein S as a TAM agonist. Today, her lab continues to research the non-coagulant roles of Protein S, with focus on the regulation of inflammation and in cancer. The lab is also interested in understanding if and how Protein S may link coagulation and inflammation.
