Jessica C. Cardenas, PhD is an Associate Professor in the department of Surgery at the University of Colorado-Denver/Anschutz Medical Campus. Her area of research is hemostasis, thrombosis, and thromboinflammation during critical illness. A key focus area of her lab is examining endothelial mechanisms that regulate inflammation and coagulation and how dysregulation of such mechanisms drives thromboinflammation and subsequent thromboembolic complications and organ dysfunction after major trauma and hemorrhagic shock. Dr. Cardenas is funded by the NIH and Department of Defense and methods in her lab leverage cell-based models, rodent models of hemorrhage and hemorrhagic shock, and clinical trials.
