Maria Magnusson, MD, PhD, Acting head of Hematology, Karolinska University Hospital.
Maria Magnusson MD, PhD, graduated in medicine from Karolinska Institutet, Sweden 1997. She trained in paediatrics and sub-specialised in coagulation-and bleeding disorders at Karolinska University Hospital. In 2013, she received her PhD at Karolinska Institutet, (thesis “Coagulation in children with liver disease”). She completed a period of post doctoral study within the Department of Paediatrics, University of Melbourne and Murdoch Children’s Research Institute, Australia, in 2014. She worked as consultant in both paediatric coagulation and pediatric hepatology for several years at Karolinska University Hospital. She was appointed head of the Coagulation Unit and medical lead for the Pediatric coagulation unit 2018-2023. Maria is currently acting head of Department of Hematology, Karolinska University hospital and senior consultant in both pediatric and adult coagulation. Her primary research interest is in coagulation in liver disease and is also conducting studies in haemophilia, platelet defects and thrombotic disorders. She is affiliated to Karolinska Institutet.
