Dr Tulasi Geevar, MD Pathology is an Associate Professor in Department of Transfusion Medicine and Immunohematology at Christian Medical College, Vellore (India). She is currently on her study leave doing a clinical fellowship in hematopathology at University Health Network, Toronto.
She oversees the coagulation laboratory at Christian Medical College, Vellore, which is a referral centre in India for the evaluation of bleeding and thrombotic disorders. She is a member of the Laboratory Scientific committee of World Federation of Haemophilia (WFH) and Indian Association of Haemophilia and Allied Disorder (IAHAD). She has been a trainer/resource person in multiple CMEs and coagulation workshops, including workshops done in collaboration with WFH, AHAD-AP and IAHAD.
It is thought that approximately 75% of people around the world with bleeding disorder still receive inadequate treatment or have no access to diagnosis. Acquired bleeding conditions like trauma and post-partum haemorrhage continue to be a major problem in these countries. Through her work she hopes to bridge this gap through education/training of laboratory personnel and adoption of innovative & cost effective laboratory tests.
