Background: Hemophilic arthritis is a type of arthritis that occurs in people with hemophilia, a genetic bleeding disorder.

Aims: The aim of the present study was to clarify the research focus and trend of hemophilic arthritis by bibliometric analysis.

Methods: Publications were searched from the 2003–2023 Science Citation Index Expanded of Web of Science Core Collection on November 25th, 2023. CiteSpace 6.1.R6 software was used to visualize the research focus and trend regarding hemophilic arthritis

Results: A total of 705 original articles and reviews on hemophilic arthritis published between 2003 and 2023 were identified. The United States had the largest number of published papers and citations. Moreover, cooperation network analysis showed close cooperation between the USA, China, Spain, and Netherlands. European University Madrid is the institution with the highest number of published papers on hemophilic arthritis worldwide, followed by the University of Murcia and Sick Children's Hospital. The journal HAEMOPHILIA had the highest number of publications, followed by CLIN ORTHOP RELAT R, J THROMB HAEMOST, BLOOD, and J BONE JOINT SURG AM. Bibliometric analysis showed that “hemophilic arthropathy” , “arthropathy” and “management” were the keywords with the highest frequency. After 2020, the keywords "pathophysiology" and "osteoarthritis" have emerged as key areas of research, indicating that the investigation of the pathophysiological mechanisms of hemophilic arthritis has become a recent focus in the field.

Conclusion(s): The information published in these articles is helping researchers gain further insights into the current hotspots and trends in this field. Recently, there has been an increasing focus on studying the pathophysiological mechanisms of the disease.
